The TeamViewer Story – Revealing the “Hidden Champion”

December 29, 2015

For TeamViewer, this has been a year of many big and important changes and events. These events and changes refer to both the product and the company itself.

So, why has this been such an important year for us?

Well, firstly, it has been a year of many anniversaries: In November 2015, TeamViewer celebrated 10 years since its founding in Uhingen, Germany.

Considering that this company started off with only a handful of people at the time, it has been both thrilling and challenging to manage the intensive growth we have experienced since TeamViewer was activated on a customer’s computer for the first time in 2005.

In the last decade, TeamViewer grew from a very small local software company to a global corporation with offices in three different continents, with millions of users, selling to almost all countries in the world with the help of a truly international workforce.

To celebrate our 10-year anniversary the right way, our incredible users provided us with a very special milestone, the one-billionth installation of TeamViewer on day October, 2015.

All of this did not happen in Silicon Valley, Berlin, London or New York. No, it happened in the pretty countryside of Southern Germany, in a region which we Germans actually call “Swabia”.

From Hidden Champion to Market Leader

Now, Swabia is known for big brands like Mercedes, Porsche and Bosch. However, there are many other small companies in the area who are market leaders in their segment, yet unknown to most of the public.

Some of them because they operate strictly in the B2B environment, others because their brands are not recognized as being as big as they actually already are. Those companies are called “Hidden Champions”.

Over the past 10 years, TeamViewer has come to be a “Hidden Champion” – a leader in its market segment, over-performing when it comes to both growth and revenue, yet, under the radar of many industry analysts, the press and the media.

The times of hiding under the radar are now over. It is time to share our story with the world.

I am very thankful that I was able to be a part of this very unique experience.

Thank you, TeamViewer. We are looking forward to many more exciting years ahead!
