Get to know Peter Ruchatz, TeamViewer’s new Chief Marketing Officer

Quick read

Peter Ruchatz

Chief Marketing Officer at TeamViewer

Q. Welcome to TeamViewer, Peter! Can you tell us a little about your career journey and what led you to your new role as TeamViewer’s Chief Marketing Officer?

A. I’m an engineer and business graduate by training, and I spent my first five years at Boston Consulting Group solving problems across industries; invaluable lessons in how companies succeed, and how they fail.

The 25 years that followed I spent in software leadership roles in the US and Europe, across large enterprise businesses (Salesforce, Celonis, Microsoft) and highly transactional ones (Veeam), always focused on one thing: accelerating growth and capturing market share, drawing constantly on the structured problem-solving I first learned at BCG.

When TeamViewer and I started talking about the CMO role, it quickly became clear that the patterns and levers I’ve learned to activate growth — which always need to be adapted to a company’s unique context — are exactly what TeamViewer needs right now.

Q. What convinced you to join TeamViewer?

A. Three things drew me in.

First, purpose: TeamViewer’s mission is to make technology just work for people, with a vision of a world where technology simply works, wherever work happens — a mission I can fully throw myself into.

Second, the people: everyone I’ve met so far brings real passion, high energy, and a genuine will to make an impact, and that tells you everything about a culture.

And third, timing: TeamViewer is building a global platform business and creating a category of its own by combining AI with a massive existing customer base in a way no one else in the market can match — there is no better moment to join this mission.

Q. What’s the marketing campaign, brand moment, or piece of storytelling that has inspired you the most in your career — and why?

A. The moments that inspire me most are when a customer describes, in their own words, how technology has changed the way they work and given them an edge. It gets even more exciting when their experience validates the market shift you’re betting on — that’s when you know you’re not just launching a product, you’re defining a category. I can’t wait to create many of those moments together with the TeamViewer team.
