Remote care, real impact: How TeamViewer connects healthcare worldwide

In healthcare, fast and secure remote connectivity makes all the difference. Here, Georg Beyschlag (President, Americas) highlights two incredible success stories.

Connect and support people
Insights overview

From surgeons operating off the coast of Africa to technologists monitoring brain activity in critical care patients, healthcare providers increasingly depend on remote connectivity to deliver critical care.

And when it comes to patient care, the technology that connects healthcare workers is completely vital, especially in challenging environments. Here at TeamViewer, we are proud to help support them in this valuable work. By optimizing remote connectivity, we are helping to transform healthcare delivery worldwide.

Mercy Ships: Bridging gaps with remote connectivity

Customer success: Mercy Ships

Texas-based Mercy Ships operates two of the largest non-governmental hospital ships in the world: the Global Mercy and the Africa Mercy. These ships, stationed off the coast of Africa, require constant connectivity to IT personnel and pathology consultants in the United States.

Mercy Ships’ vessels are equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment and staffed by over 3,000 volunteer professionals from more than 60 countries each year. Ensuring seamless communication and data sharing is crucial for their operations, especially in low-bandwidth areas.

By partnering with TeamViewer, Mercy Ships is bridging the technological gap, allowing their remote staff to support medical and operational personnel on board.

When a doctor on a Mercy Ship biopsies a patient’s tumor, for example, they can send the slide back to a pathology consultant in the United States to review. Since Mercy Ships doctors only operate on non-cancerous tumors, this step is essential before surgery. Here, remote technology is proving to be a real gamechanger.

“When dealing with surgery, speed and efficiency are of the utmost importance. Our remote connectivity solution allows us to quickly determine whether we can operate on a patient and get them the help they need right away.”

Enhancing operational efficiency

Alongside medical consultations, TeamViewer supports Mercy Ships’ medical staff in accessing their medical supplies dispensing system remotely. This system manages all the ship’s medical equipment, allowing staff to sign in from North America and dispense necessary supplies for any procedure.

TeamViewer’s single sign-on solution enhances security, giving the Mercy Ships IT TeamViewer confidence in preventing unauthorized access. This robust remote connectivity solution is crucial for resolving IT issues, managing medical supplies, and ensuring the viability of surgeries, saving Mercy Ships time, effort, and costs.

Integris Neuro: Ensuring continuous EEG monitoring

Customer success: Integris Neuro

For Integris Neuro, remote connectivity is equally critical for continuous electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring. Based in the US, the company specializes in long-term video ambulatory EEGs conducted in outpatient clinics or at patients’ residences, and continuous EEG monitoring of hospital inpatients.

Using TeamViewer Tensor, Integris Neuro’s can make sure that its technicians are securely connected, providing instantaneous data monitoring and immediate identification of abnormal brain activity. This allows medical professionals to intervene promptly with the right treatments.

“We now have a nationwide network of top-tier technologists, spanning from California to Florida and from Connecticut to Utah,” said Steven Estes, President/CEO, Integris Neuro.

“This expansive reach ensures continuous, high-quality patient monitoring around the clock, with seamless handoffs between our skilled professionals. Without this solution, we’d be limited to a local talent pool, but now we recruit the best from coast to coast. It’s not just a tool for us—it’s the backbone of our operations, enabling us to provide exceptional care to every patient, every time.”
