Remote Monitoring and Management

TeamViewer RMM: Fix problems faster, reduce overheads, and boost network security

TeamViewer’s flexibility and cross-compatible design make it a suitable RMM software solution for a wide range of environments, including in-house IT teams, and managed service providers (MSPs), servicing both business users, and external customers. Key capabilities and features include:

Maintaining stability of IT systems

With TeamViewer Device Monitoring, you can continuously monitor the performance of all devices, no matter where they are located, keeping your IT infrastructure stable, secure, and running smoothly. Identify the checks you need — such as disk space and health, CPU and memory usage, status updates, event logs, and online status — and receive instant notifications if a check fails.

Centralized control of devices

Use the Remote Task Manager to view and manage all running processes and services across your environment. Accessible from your TeamViewer Remote Management dashboard, use Remote Scripting to set up scripts that take care of repetitive routine tasks on any or all of your remote devices.

Management of distributed network

TeamViewer Asset Management gives you a detailed view of all network assets across your own or your customer’s entire IT estate. Scan for all connected devices (including hidden devices) to monitor the status and performance of your entire network. This includes computers, mobile devices, printers and other peripherals, routers and switches, uninterruptible power supplies, and network attached storage. With Asset Management you can also manage a dispersed fleet of devices, schedule and roll out updates, and manage patch deployments, software installations, upgrades, and reconfigurations from anywhere.

Remote hands-on support

With full remote control and a range of see-what-I-see capabilities, TeamViewer enables you to take user-focused, proactive RMM to the next level. Technicians can securely connect to any device across your managed environment. With full support for video, chat, screen sharing, and dynamic assistance, technicians get an instant view of problems and can diagnose and reconfigure as needed. At the same time, they can provide the user with real-time, hyper-relevant guidance and support.

Remote cloud backup

TeamViewer Backup is an essential part of RMM that ensures business continuity and resiliency. TeamViewer Backup lets you design and implement a reliable, easy-to-manage backup and recovery strategy, suitable for even the most complex and widely distributed IT environments. Using the TeamViewer management console, you can specify what should be backed up, when, and how often. You can also monitor adherence, and intervene remotely if necessary.

What sets TeamViewer’s solution for remote management apart?

Customizable RMM software

What does optimum performance look like for you and your customers? What needs to be tracked, how often, and by whom? Which critical areas demand special attention? TeamViewer RMM is fully customizable, allowing you to define and enforce precisely the policies and rules you need to maintain the health of your networks.

Reliable alerting

Individually define capacity limits and performance red flags, and receive instant notifications when they are reached. TeamViewer RMM software gives you a valuable heads up on performance issues, so you can address them before they turn into problems for end-users.

Behind-the-scenes support

With TeamViewer, there’s no need to remove users from the system to perform essential maintenance tasks. Use the built-in remote task manager and remote scripting feature to provide behind-the-scenes support and get tasks done, without disturbing the end user. Customizable scheduling means that backups, upgrades, and similar tasks can be executed remotely at any time, keeping business disruption to a minimum.

FAQs

Remote monitoring and management (RMM) is a process that allows IT technicians to remotely monitor endpoints (e.g. computers, mobile devices, servers, peripherals) and networks. RMM is especially useful for managing large and/or scattered fleets of devices.

Remote management software enables an RMM process to be successfully executed. The solution usually works by installing a small program (an ‘agent’) on all endpoints across a network. IT managers define what information they need to monitor system health. This information, for example,. CPU usage, disk space, and firewall activity, is sent back to a management console. The solution also sends alerts to designated technicians/administrators if defined limits are reached, or events occur.

TeamViewer’s remote management software gives you customized monitoring and task-scheduling capabilities. What’s more, with a full range of remote control and see-what-I-see functionality, it also gives you multiple options for talking directly with users, taking control of devices, and delivering guidance and virtual hands-on support.

One of the most valuable uses of remote monitoring and management software is in a managed service provider (MSP) setting. It is common for MSPs to have multiple clients to manage, each with their own service requirements, IT environment characteristics, vulnerabilities, and preferences.

With a comprehensive RMM software solution such as TeamViewer, you can configure your solution to manage multiple clients from the same console and scale seamlessly as device fleets expand and new clients come on board.
