Digital skills are now among the most important foundations for young people’s education and future careers. To support students in developing these skills, TeamViewer has donated 48 laptops to Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium in Göppingen, a bilingual school for students in grades 5 through 13. Sebastian Hoerz, Lead Sustainability Manager at TeamViewer, presented the devices to Headteacher John Ahlskog on July 23.
The laptops will be used in various subjects and will particularly support computer science classes as well as project-based learning formats. For Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium, the donation comes at an important time. While the historic school building is undergoing extensive modernization, lessons are currently taking place in a temporary building. The school community is expected to return to the fully renovated main building in early 2027.
“We are very pleased about this generous donation,” said headteacher John Ahlskog. “The laptops will directly benefit our students. They give us additional opportunities to use digital teaching formats and to strengthen media literacy in a more targeted way. The safe and responsible use of digital media is now one of the core skills that schools need to teach.”
With the return to the nine-year Gymnasium model in Göppingen, computer science is becoming more important. In the future, it will be taught across all grade levels. Modern technical equipment creates important conditions for this.
Part of TeamViewer’s c-a-r-e sustainability program
The laptop donation is part of TeamViewer’s c-a-r-e sustainability program. The program brings together the company’s sustainability and social engagement activities across four focus areas: Collaboration, Access, Reduction and Equity. TeamViewer uses technology not only to improve efficiency, but also to promote access to education, knowledge and digital opportunities.
The support for Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium connects two central elements of the program. Under Access, students gain access to modern technology and digital learning opportunities. The 48 laptops were also extensively refurbished before being handed over and prepared for further use. This supports Reduction by extending the devices’ useful life, conserving resources and avoiding electronic waste. The donation therefore combines digital participation with responsible use of existing resources and creates both social and ecological value.
Taking responsibility for the region
For TeamViewer, the initiative also reflects its close ties to its headquarters location in Göppingen.

We are pleased that the laptops can help give young people access to modern learning opportunities and prepare them for their further education and future careers.”
The donation shows how local education support and TeamViewer’s sustainability goals work together. By reusing existing devices while directly benefiting students, the initiative combines social value with responsible use of resources.
For Hohenstaufen-Gymnasium, the devices will soon become part of everyday school life. When the school returns to its modernized building in 2027, the donated laptops will be used there from the first day and become part of a contemporary learning environment.
With this donation, TeamViewer sets another example for digital education and social engagement at its headquarters location in Göppingen. It shows how the ambition behind the c-a-r-e program, “Creating a World that Works Better,” is put into practice locally.
