Like in many industries worldwide, the digital transformation of the construction sector is in full swing. Innovative leaders such as Swiss-based ERNE AG are leveraging various digital technologies to plan and build more efficiently, accurately, and sustainably. A key part of this digitalization strategy is TeamViewer Tensor for remote access, ensuring IT runs securely and reliably both in the office and on construction sites. We asked Sascha Witzig, Head of IT Services, and Ramon Schweizer, Head of Virtual Design & Construction and Digitalization, about their view on digitalization and innovation in construction.
Ramon Schweizer: Our VCD team brings numerous innovations directly to the construction site. From AI applications to fully paperless building, we cover a wide range of topics. For example, all construction plans are available exclusively in digital form on site. Paper plans are a thing of the past.
Ramon Schweizer: Digitalization significantly increases efficiency on site, as we always have up-to-date data available locally. We’re no longer tied to analogue processes and can extract much more information from model data than we could with paper plans. This streamlines many workflows and advances the entire construction process.
Ramon Schweizer: TeamViewer is a central software for us, especially in site support. We use remote access to assist the site team directly. If a technical issue arises, the foreman or site manager calls us, and we access the device via TeamViewer. With TeamViewer Tensor, we’ve set up a clear structure and immediately know which device is involved, whether it’s a tablet, a PC for accessing the construction plans, or a tacheometer. Within minutes, our support colleagues access the device and usually resolve the issue very quickly.
Sascha Witzig: TeamViewer is widely used across our organization. The entire IT department relies on it for IT support at ERNE Group’s distributed locations in Switzerland. My teams in first- and second-level support can quickly and easily help employees remotely. Since introducing TeamViewer, we’ve reduced our IT support response times by about 30 percent. It’s also frequently used in digital construction, as Ramon mentioned.
Sascha Witzig: TeamViewer stands out for its versatility. For example, it enables AI-powered reporting. Additionally, the software is very user-friendly for my IT staff and offers numerous features that make their daily work much easier.
