How TeamViewer helps you move fast without compromising security

In regulated industries, every access request, remote session, and third-party connection comes with responsibility. Teams need to move quickly, but security and compliance can’t be an afterthought.

However, many executives believe that you need to choose between strict control and smooth productivity. But what if that trade-off didn’t exist? What if the same system that gives you granular control could also remove the friction that slows teams down?

TeamViewer removes that trade-off. By embedding security into the foundation, TeamViewer gives your enterprise granular control from day one without slowing teams down.

When security and productivity collide

Imagine it’s Friday afternoon and a critical vendor system goes down. Your IT team needs to grant access quickly to restore service. The typical dilemma arises: spend valuable time setting up precise temporary permissions or grant broader access and risk cleanup later. Every minute counts for customers and for management watching the clock.

Fast-forward to the next quarterly compliance audit. The team must demonstrate who accessed which systems over the past months. Logs come from multiple tools: some capture connection times but not actions; others track activity without linking it to individual users. Piecing together a complete, auditable picture takes hours, even days, and leaves room for uncertainty.

Meanwhile, employees across your organization face friction every day: multiple authentication steps, hunting for credentials, or navigating fragmented systems. These small delays add up. In fact, password resets alone cost organizations an average of 11 hours per employee per year and up to $5.2 million annually for an organization of 15,000+.

When security slows teams down, decisions get rushed or workarounds appear. This leads to frustration, and IT is seen as a barrier rather than a partner in achieving business goals.

How built-in security eliminates friction instead of adding it

The answer isn’t another tool stacked on top of existing systems. It’s a foundation designed to give teams control from day one without slowing them down. When access, oversight, and authentication work together seamlessly, security stops being an obstacle. It becomes part of how your teams get work done.

Conditional access reduces emergency compromises

Urgent access requests can create high-risk situations. Teams either grant broad permissions and clean up later or spend valuable time manually approving exact access. With TeamViewer Tensor, conditional access policies execute automatically, giving users exactly the permissions they need and only for the systems they need to access. Access expires the moment the task is complete.

For example, when a vendor needs to fix a critical system on short notice, TeamViewer Tensor evaluates their request against predefined rules. Legitimate users connect instantly. Unauthorized attempts are blocked immediately. Work continues uninterrupted, and IT maintains full control.

Complete audit trails simplify compliance

Audits are usually stressful because evidence is scattered across multiple systems. Teams can spend hours, or even days, piecing together who did what, when, and where. With Tensor, every connection, file transfer, and command is automatically recorded in immutable logs. Detailed records show exactly who did what, when, and where – so every action is accounted for.

This means your team can respond to auditor requests with confidence, without pausing operations or hunting across multiple systems. Whether it’s for regulatory compliance, security investigations, or troubleshooting, the evidence is always complete and accessible– without slowing anyone down.

Single sign-on reduces authentication friction

Authentication delays are a constant productivity drain. Multiple passwords, verification codes, and separate logins slow employees down, especially during critical tasks like client meetings or system maintenance.

Single sign-on with Tensor eliminates this friction. Employees authenticate once using corporate credentials and gain instant access across all remote sessions. No juggling multiple passwords. No waiting for verification codes.

Integration with your existing identity provider ensures access scales automatically: new employees are onboarded immediately, departing employees lose access instantly, and IT spends less time managing accounts. Security and control are maintained, while teams stay productive from day one.

How BKW centralized its IT operations across 140 subsidiaries

BKW operates power grids across Switzerland and couldn't afford security gaps or slow support while centralizing IT operations across 140 subsidiaries and 11,500 employees. Each acquisition brought different systems and security standards that needed integration without creating bottlenecks.

TeamViewer Tensor's built-in capabilities solved their scaling challenge. Conditional access applied corporate security standards automatically to new subsidiaries without individual configuration. Employees used existing BKW credentials everywhere through single sign-on integration. Complete audit logs appeared automatically for regulatory compliance.

"The switch to Tensor was seamless," noted Roman Winzeler, BKW's Modern Workplace Specialist. "Everything we touched worked straight away, and on a technical level, everything went perfectly." BKW's IT team now supports thousands of devices across hundreds of locations while maintaining critical infrastructure security requirements.

The difference between built-in and add-on security

How security is delivered shapes how effective it can be. Built-in security works from the ground up: every policy, every connection, and every audit trail exists as part of the system’s design. This means protections apply automatically and consistently, rather than depending on layers that have to be added or managed later.

At TeamViewer, security is part of our DNA. Therefore, conditional access isn't an add-on module—it's how every connection gets routed. Audit logging isn't an optional feature—it's how all activity gets recorded. And single sign-on isn't a separate integration—it's how users authenticate.

Because these capabilities are built into the system, security operates consistently across every user, device, and session without extra effort. For example, policies extend automatically as your organization grows. Ensuring compliance is maintained and reducing the potential for errors or gaps. IT teams can focus on enabling work rather than managing exceptions, while employees move through their tasks with minimal friction. In this way, foundational security not only preserves control but also integrates into everyday operations, thus supporting both efficiency and accountability.

Control without compromise

.Security for enterprise companies shouldn't require choosing between oversight and productivity. TeamViewer removes that trade-off by embedding security into the foundation, giving your enterprise granular control from day one without slowing teams down.

The result is security that works invisibly behind the scenes, while giving you complete visibility into every connection and action. Your teams stay productive, your compliance requirements are met, and your operations scale without compromise.
