Managing licenses across multiple companies can be complex in large organizations. With multitenancy in TeamViewer Tensor, you can distribute licenses from a parent company to child companies within a single hierarchy. This allows centralized control while keeping flexibility for each tenant. This article explains how to share, edit, and remove licenses using multitenancy.
This article applies to all TeamViewer Tensor license holders, except Tensor Access.

The process in TeamViewer Tensor is different:
License sharing (also called license splitting) allows a parent company to distribute parts of its license to one or more child companies.
The parent defines how many slots are shared
The child receives the license automatically
No action is required on the child’s side
Parent companies can share specific licenses with child companies if the minimum required number of slots for each license type is met.
These minimum values must be respected from both perspectives:
The parent company must retain at least the minimum required slots after sharing
The child company must receive at least the minimum required slots to use the license
In other words, a license can only be split if both sides meet the minimum requirements independently.
Example
A parent company has a Tensor Pro license with 20 user slots.
The minimum requirement is 10 users.
The parent can share 10 user slots with a child company
The parent keeps 10 user slots (minimum requirement met)
The child receives 10 user slots (minimum requirement met)
Sharing fewer than the minimum (for example, 5 users) is not allowed, as neither side would meet the required threshold.
The table below shows which licenses are eligible and the required minimum slots.

Parent company must have a core Tensor license
Tensor Access is not supported for license sharing
Child companies do not require a specific license
Child companies must have a company profile

Only the parent company can edit a shared license, and it should respect the minimum required number of slots, depending on the license type.
Go to Admin settings.
Open License usage under Billings.
Select the shared license you want to edit.
Select Edit usage.
Adjust the slot values.
Click Assign to confirm.
The changes apply automatically to the child company.
Both parent and child companies can remove a shared license. The process is similar in both cases.
Go to Admin settings.
Open License usage under Billings.
Select the shared license you want to remove.
Select Remove.
This will remove the selected license and unassign all slots that were assigned to it and are assigned back to the parent.
Note: In the child company, users are not reassigned to their original licenses after removal. If all users were assigned to the shared license, removing it makes all users, including the tenant manager, free users.
Both parent and child companies can view the license usage.
