Inspiring tomorrow’s innovators: TeamViewer hosts second Cyber Robotics competition

Quick read

TeamViewer proudly hosted the second edition of its Cyber Robotics Competition, an educational initiative designed to ignite curiosity and build confidence in students exploring the world of coding and robotics.

This year’s program reached over 800 students across 22 schools in Germany and the United States, continuing TeamViewer’s commitment to expanding equitable access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education.

A four-phase journey into robotics and coding

The competition followed a structured four-phase approach to help students progress from beginner coding knowledge to solving advanced robotics challenges:

  1. Training Phase – Students and teachers were introduced to the interactive platform of CoderZ, learning foundational coding and robotics skills.
  2. Mission Launch – The official competition kicked off in March in the U.S. and June in Germany, with students diving into coding tasks to earn points.
  3. Advanced Challenges – Teams took on increasingly difficult challenges to test their problem-solving and collaboration skills.
  4. Celebration & Awards – Finalists were honored in celebratory ceremonies: an online event in the U.S. and an on-site event in Göppingen, Germany. Top-performing schools received STEM funding, while individual high scorers took home robotics kits and CoderZ platform licenses.

“Programming knows neither age nor gender. In light of the shortage of skilled professionals in STEM fields, it’s more important than ever to spark young people’s interest in technology early on. At TeamViewer, we aim to inspire curiosity and encourage them to explore the world of IT. Those who gain their first programming experience through a competition like this may be laying the foundation for a future where they actively help shape technological progress. I’m truly impressed by how engaged and creative the students were throughout the competition,” said Kai Werner, CHRO & Group General Counsel at TeamViewer.

Germany: 420 students dive into tech

The German leg of the competition concluded with a live award ceremony at the Goeppingen Stadthalle in late July. The competition brought together over 420 students from ten schools across Baden-Württemberg, including Stuttgart, Esslingen, and Oberkochen. Top honors went to an all-girls team from Ernst-Abbe-Gymnasium in Oberkochen, recognized for their teamwork, enthusiasm, and technical excellence

In addition to awards, students participated in interactive workshops designed to make robotics and coding tangible and exciting.

USA: Building STEM confidence across 12 Schools

Earlier in the year, around 400 4th-6th graders from twelve U.S. schools took part in the competition. Using CoderZ’s gamified coding environment, students engaged in mission-based learning that emphasized hands-on tech exploration. They collectively logged over 2,350 programming hours – the equivalent of nearly 100 days – while developing collaboration, problem-solving, and inclusion skills. Students widely praised the experience as both fun and empowering.

Fostering a Global Learning Community

The Cyber Robotics Competition aligns with TeamViewer’s broader c-a-r-e framework, an internal initiative to support equitable access to technology regardless of gender, age, or background. By promoting early digital education, TeamViewer is helping students envision a future in which they can thrive as tech creators - not just consumers.
