Celebrating success: The TeamViewer Cyber Robotics Competition in Germany wrap-up

  • CSR Impact Article
  • At TeamViewer, we develop remote connectivity and workplace digitalization solutions with one goal — to create a smarter and better working world. Our vision is to create a world that works better, and we think technology and innovation can get us there! "Access to technology" is a cornerstone of our c-a-r-e sustainability framework. Under this pillar, we drive initiatives to empower individuals through technology and create pathways for future generations to dream bigger and achieve more.

The TeamViewer Cyber Robotics Competition brought our vision to life in a fun and engaging way! As our successful US competition came to a close, we kicked off the German edition in April with 300 kids in 7 schools ready to dive into the exciting world of coding and robotics. ~100 teams of students dedicated almost 1,000 hours to earn the most points for their teams.

“It has been a lot of fun! This is project is definitely different from our regular classes,” Elena, a sixth grader from the Mörike Gymnasium in Göppingen mentioned. “We have to identify the problems on our own and experiment with various potential solutions. Our teacher doesn't step in immediately to solve the problems for us; instead, he encourages us to tackle them independently.”

On Thursday, July 4th, we officially ended the initiative with a final ceremony celebrating innovation, teamwork, and creativity. More than 100 children participated, accompanied by their parents and teachers.  Our event was moderated by TeamViewer’s own Deniz Billeci, who kept the energy high. The ceremony began with a warm welcome and an exciting speech by our CFO, Michael Wilkens.

After the ceremony, the students also used their acquired technical skills and creativity to create a chain reaction machine with spare parts of computers, chairs, and other recycled materials. The engaging workshop was led by Tinker Tank, a local non-profit organization.

A shout out to the top performing teams:

    1. First place: Rüdiger from Georgii Gymnasium in Esslingen
    2. Second place: Die BananaGang from Geschwister-Scholl-Realschule in Nürtingen
    3. Third place: GG Gang from Mörikeschule in Nürtingen

Top performing teams took home an individual robotics kit, and their school received monetary support for the STEM activities.

A special shout out to the outstanding winners of our special categories! Some of our colleagues in our Göppingen office voted Die Checker vom Neckar from the Georgii Gymnasium in Esslingen for Best Team Name, while the Geschwister-Scholl Realschule Nürtingen won the Best Team Spirit award.
