Scene Explorer

The Scene Explorer is located on the left side of the scene. It shows the steps and models of the scene.

  • Search bar: Allows users to search for steps and models
  • Scene: Comprises all of the steps and models in a project
  • Steps: Refers to workflow elements that can be added by the user
  • Models: Refers to 3D models imported to the project

Depending on how the imported model was created, the list might be organized in assemblies. This is particularly useful for selecting multiple parts at once. This comes in handy when adding animations to instruction components or hiding parts of a model.

Note: The Scene Explorer can be resized by dragging its right edge.

Selecting multiple parts

Multiple parts can also be selected in the Scene Explorer and the 3D scene by holding down Ctrl while selecting. The keyboard shortcut H can be used to hide all the selected parts at once.

Grouping model parts into a collection

Creating a workflow often involves building animations and scene states. Imported models, however, may not be structured to make it easy to repeatedly select the same parts across different branches.

This feature allows users to group model parts into collections or groups, which can then be used as targets for scene states and animations.

Key features:

  • Select two or more parts or assemblies to create a group
  • Groups appear in the scene explorer
  • Groups can be renamed or deleted
  • Groups can be used as targets for animations
  • Useful for models with many scattered parts that require repeated selection

This feature improves efficiency by reducing the need to manually reselect complex part combinations.

Creating a group from model parts

  1. Select multiple model parts by holding Ctrl and clicking each part.
  2. Go to Object > Create group or press Ctrl+G.
  3. A new group appears in the model explorer (below, shown as Group 3). The new model will be shown in orange in the Scene. Any changes to the original parts (e.g., edits or deletions) are automatically reflected in the group.
